Getting All Uppity On Fixer-Uppers

CBH Homes Shiny New Awesome Videos

Conventional assumptions run rampant that old homes have a lot of “character.” On the contrary, what comes with a old home’s so-called character is a lot of icky stuff that most of us wouldn’t like to even think about, much less take a fantastic-voyage-esque journey just to see what lurks, clings, and stinks in that old house.

CBH decided to take the task head on and show that CBH Homes are not just awesome, but a triple adjective threat of “Shiny New Awesome.” To tell that story, Drake Cooper was tasked with creating 8 short web videos to show how old homes are actually “Filthy Antediluvian Loathsome” with all the hidden gross-outs found in old carpets, ceilings, and drapes.

The spots were concepted, written, shot, and edited in just four days and up on social networks faster than you can say “due to the repugnant stimuli, I’m about to regurgitate on the befouled floor treatment.”

Bike & Trike will be a fun family event

Are you ready to get out of the house? Maybe stretch the legs on a bike?

We’re putting together an extremely affordable family-oriented community event on Saturday, April 11, for Treasure Valley residents called Bike & Trike, featuring Olympic Gold Medalist Kristin Armstrong. The event will be held at the new West Highlands community in Middleton, where Coleman Homes is making brand-spanking-new pavement available for elite bike racing, adults racing on trikes and kids bike races. We will be giving away a free kids mountain bike to people who sign up (must be present to win). All race participants will get a free water bottle and T-shirt.

Coleman Homes is co-sponsoring the event with George’s Cycles. Mike Cooley, the bike racing guru who puts on the Twilight Criterium every year, is organizing the races. The day will start with Miss & Out races on a half-mile course. You can set up your lawn chair on a sidewalk right next to the course and feel the speed of true bike racing. The last rider to cross the finish line on each lap is out of the race. So they’ll be riding for their life.

At lunchtime, we’ll hold some celebrity trike races, as a fund-raiser for the Middleton Library. Local TV and radio personalities, elected officials and general public will participate. Check out this You Tube video of what a trike race looks like. It’s hilarious.

A no-host catered lunch will be served by Darcy’s Catering in Nampa.

And then at 1:30 p.m., the kids bike races will start, with categories of age 3 with training wheels on up. Kristin Armstrong will ride victory laps with the kids, award medals and sign autographs. The kids races are open to ages 3-14.

How often do your kids have a chance to rub shoulders with an Olympic gold medalist? And get a free T-shirt and water bottle to boot? Kristin Armstrong is very generous to share her day with us. I hope you can bring your family out and have a good time.

Fresh Clients

Es/drake has added CBH Homes and Dell to its current client roster.

The agency’s work for CBH Homes will extend beyond TV, radio and print, to include web marketing, PR, employee communication, event marketing, and customer relationship marketing. Work started quickly, as the agency supported CBH Homes with marketing and media relations for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build of the Stockdale home in Middleton, Idaho.

“After our recent name change from Corey Barton Homes to CBH Homes, we were looking to expand the branding opportunities within the building community,” said Holly Haener, director of sales and marketing. “When we started looking for an agency that could handle the amount of work we do, we thought we might have to go out of state, but after a few meetings with es/drake we realized that wouldn’t be necessary.”

The second new client, Dell, has called on the agency to do public relations work for the corporation’s Twin Falls call center. The Dell Twin Falls center has more than 700 employees. The es/drake PR team will support the center with community, government and media relations, and internal communications.

Es/drake is ecstatic to have these opportunities and new challenges.
